Welcome to the official website for the Brickshire LEGO User Group (LUG) based in Yorkshire. Our purpose is to provide a group for like-minded Adult Fans of LEGO (AFOLs) to network, meet and display their LEGO creations within the county of Yorkshire and other local shires.
who we are
Brickshire was the first regional LEGO User Group in the UK and was officially formed on the 22nd February 2013 when 10 of the 13 founding members met and voted unanimously in favour of the constitution. Our aims as a LUG are to:
- Promote the LEGO brand to AFOLs and the general public
- Have regular local meetings of members
- Display LEGO models at events throughout Yorkshire
- Build a relationship with The LEGO Group (TLG) on behalf of our members
Our History
All of the founding members were AFOLs that visited the Sheffield LEGO Brand Store on a regular basis, and had met a number of times informally.
Discussions began about creating a LUG at a regional level, as other LUGs had events spread all across the country, making it difficult to attend and display.
Our first public display was at the Northern Modelling and Engineering Exhibition in Harrogate on 10th May 2013, and we’ve gone from strength to strength ever since.
Relationship with LEGO
As a Recognised LUG, it important that we establish and keep a good relationship with The LEGO Group, and as such, we have a nominated LEGO Ambassador to act as our official liaison with them. More information on the LEGO Ambassador Programme can be found here.
The Brickshed
Brickshire is the only LUG in the United Kingdom with their own premises and parts storage facility. The Brickshed is available to all paid up members for communal building or expanding their own MOCs.
